As part of our business growth, we are seeking a candidate with proven experience to fill the role of Senior Assembly Process Specialist. This position is ideal for someone who wishes to act as a technical expert, contribute to innovative projects and have a direct impact on the value we deliver to our customers.

Reporting to the Technical Director, you will play a key role as a technical expert in microelectronics component assembly processes. You will lead the development and optimisation of manufacturable assembly solutions, working closely with our clients and the business development team.

You will work on highly complex projects, support the team in resolving critical issues and contribute to C2MI’s technological positioning (quality, costs, cycle times, transferability).

 

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Among other things, you will be required to:

  • Work closely with clients on the development of their products, with a focus on manufacturable assembly
  • Design, develop, characterise and optimise advanced assembly processes in accordance with project requirements (e.g. microprocessor bonding, alignment of optical fibres and lasers, cutting of semiconductor wafers, optoelectronic integration)
  • Manage microelectronics assembly projects, from understanding client requirements through to planning, execution, characterisation and documentation
  • Act as a technical lead for assembly processes and risk analyses, and support the resolution of critical technical issues
  • Mentor, support and transfer knowledge to team members regarding processes, methods and best practices
  • Rigorously document processes to ensure traceability, reproducibility and technology transfer
  • Contribute to the design and development of bespoke tooling to support assembly processes
  • Provide relevant data on quality, costs and cycle times to clients and partners to support their business decisions
  • Undertake any other related responsibilities in line with your expertise, at the request of your line manager

 

REQUIRED PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, physical or chemical engineering, or an equivalent field
  • Substantial experience (7 years or more) in assembly processes, microelectronics or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience in managing or leading technical projects
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English (international clients and partners)
  • Technical leadership, high degree of autonomy and excellent analytical skills
  • Strong skills in complex problem-solving (troubleshooting)

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recognised expertise in microelectronics or advanced packaging
  • Experience in technology transfer or process scaling
  • In-depth knowledge of assembly equipment (chip placement, encapsulation, thermal profiling, solder ball placement, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of metallurgy/materials science
