JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Vice-President of Technologies, the Process and Equipment Specialist will be responsible for developing, leading and supporting strategic technology projects aimed at bringing to maturity the new technology building blocks essential to C2MI’s growth (quantum, advanced assembly, CMOS post-processing, etc.). They will work closely with industrial partners, as well as with the various technical stakeholders involved in the projects. The role also includes the qualification and technical support of new equipment in the sector, the characterisation of recipes and the implementation of SPC (Statistical Process Control) systems to ensure the stability, repeatability and performance of the technologies developed.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Qualify and support equipment in the sector, including the implementation and application of the processes required for CSP monitoring, to ensure its stability and performance.
  • Develop, characterise and optimise standard operating procedures for the equipment under their responsibility.
  • Design and develop the process blocks required to fulfil C2MI client mandates.
  • Develop robust processes and implement procedures enabling the use of equipment for various needs within a multi-partner environment.
  • Develop comprehensive process blocks and make them available to the ecosystem.
  • Assist and support C2MI clients in the development of their products by proposing optimal solutions adapted to a commercial production environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues responsible for complementary technologies to optimise processes and guide clients’ product design choices.
  • Master the use of equipment in the quantum, MEMS and assembly sectors, including: photolithography (including electrolithography), plasma etching and liquid etching techniques, thin-film deposition (including low-temperature evaporation/sputtering of superconducting materials), bonding (wafers and chips), electroplating, etc.
  • Prioritise activities in order to effectively coordinate the various responsibilities associated with the role.
  • Perform any other related tasks assigned by their supervisor, within their area of expertise.

 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering (physics, electrical, biomedical, chemical, materials science or any other related field).
  • Technical project management.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken), as equipment suppliers and clients are international.
  • Good team spirit.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative and autonomy.
  • Knowledge of statistics.
  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in microfabrication or chip assembly.
  • Cleanroom experience.
  • Knowledge or experience in the manufacture of quantum devices (an asset).
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector (an asset).
